Undersized units run flat out and struggle on the hottest days; oversized ones cost more and cycle inefficiently. South-facing rooms, large windows and open staircases push you up a size. For heating, the same units deliver more heat than their cooling rating — the 3.5kW model provides around 3.8kW of warmth.
